Daniel Kwan is an American filmmaker. He is part of the writing/directing duo known as Daniels, along with Daniel Schneinert. They won the Academy Award for Best Director for Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022). They also wrote the film, for which they won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, and also wrote and directed Swiss Army Man.

He was born in Pennsylvania, and raised in Westborough, Massachusetts. Daniel is married to filmmaker and animator Kirsten Lepore, with whom he has one child.

Daniel has said:

My dad’s family is from Hong Kong; my mom’s family is from Taiwan. [Going to my grandparents’] house on my dad’s side was kind of [chaotic] because I don’t understand Cantonese at all. It really did feel like we could never fully communicate with each other because my mom was trying to translate between us…
